The BUC Journey
Our Story
Be-Great Security and Defence College (BUC) is a nationally registered and licensed, national security-centred and defence college that has innovative structures to empower every student to achieve the academic excellence at the BUC. Our good reputation is based on our principal objective of preparing students to meet the security challenges facing our homeland critical infrastructures, human security and global peace and security.
Since the founding of the famous Free Online Security Learning Program (FOSLP) to bring a very significant student capacity on a common learning portal, BUC is now a global innovator in security, intelligence, investigation and defence higher education. Today, the BUC National Security Library project with offices aimed for monitoring international insecurity, violent protests and demonstrations, world news on security, regional conflicts and wars our first Private Defence and Security College has been considered as one of the most prominent and respected independent Defence College with low competitors in the world. Registered with the Ministry of the Interior in 2017 and with degree-granting affiliate universities in Europe, US, UK, India and Australia, BUC is a leader in security and intelligence education with more regional students studying from diserse law enforcement courses.
Achieving the national status as first registered Private Defence and Security College in Ghana, BUC recognizes and focus its role as a leading institution for public safety and stands out among the top security research and training centres.
In addressing the BUC in the shortest term, the private defence and security college pride itself on delivering security-focused with excellent teaching in both an online-designed training base and occassionally traditional mode or classroom

Mission
"Be-Great Security and Defence College (BUC) seeks to advance understanding of how professional practice of security, intelligence and investigations contribute to democracy, peace, economy and a diverse society, and to further produce graduates who can contribute to this understanding and dialogue. BUC graduates learn how to advance the body of knowledge in Investigative practice as well as security and intelligence by critically evaluating and conducting in-depth enquiries through theory, research and applied knowledge. By definition, BUC prepare professionals, educators, scholars, etc. who, through management and research, can furnish leadership and service to their fields both locally and globally."

The Independent Security Council (ISC)
The Independent Security Council (ISC) was established on the principle of membership organization. The purpose of this reputable body is the creation of unity among graduates of the Be-Great Security and Defence College (BUC) who will come together and work on issues of national security concern. The ISC serves as the national voice for public safety advice and solution.
The ISC executive management operates the Council separately from BUC’s academic services. The President of the ISC coordinates actions of the Council and decides strategies for BUC’s continued growth and global expansion. Among the President’s other functions is the resolution of misunderstandings between BUC groups.
The Independent Security Council has recently made changes to accept members from other security organizations. However, the rules and regulations for admission still stand: a prospective applicant must be a security, intelligence, or investigative practitioner, graduate, student, or lecturer.
Being a body of security graduates and seasoned security and intelligence practitioners, it is fervently believed this notable Security Council remains the nation’s security and intelligence resourced centre, and occasionally, a training base for security personnel.
